Capitol Hill Club members carried Hampton Roads to Richmond
Thirty-one volunteers met with legislators about home-delivered meal funding and the direct care workforce shortage.
Thirty-one Capitol Hill Club members travelled to Richmond this session to meet with legislators about two issues: home-delivered meal funding, and the wages and pipeline problems in the direct care workforce.
Members are volunteers. Most are older adults themselves, several are family caregivers, and a number receive services from us. None of them are lobbyists, which is precisely why the meetings land.
Preparation matters more than experience. Members receive a briefing, a one-page leave-behind and a practised version of their own story. We handle transport, scheduling and the room.
